[They're not in Japan anymore. There's no real tradition of otoshidama here in Avalon-- it's fey shit all the way down on New Year's. And there's no way Ichiro would even accept anything from his old man in the first place, so Rei can't even do it properly.

But... Rei is closer (physically, at least) to that little brat of his now more than he has been in a long time. And with as magic as this place is, maybe believing in tradition means something after all. To hell with it.
